ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Joana!

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario.

My approach is client-centered, recognizing that you are the expert of your own life. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to foster growth, self-discovery, and lasting change. I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. With empathy and compassion, I am fully present as you share your story and work through the challenges you face individually and/or as a couple.

As we work together, my goal is to empower you to better understand yourself, develop healthier coping strategies, and create positive changes in your life. I deeply respect the courage it takes to embark on this journey, and I am here to walk alongside you, providing support, insight, and practical tools to help you move forward.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, or life transitions, I am committed to helping you find clarity, build resilience, and reconnect with your relationships. You don’t have to go through this alone—I’m here to support you every step of the way.

MY STORY
I am a therapist based in Toronto, where I have lived my entire life. I am of Portuguese heritage, and I offer therapy services in both English and Portuguese. My passion for helping others began at a young age. My experience ranges from volunteering at the University Health Network (UHN) and supporting individuals that suffered from brain injuries, to supporting children with special needs at the Toronto District School Board, to working in the insurance industry. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to those impacted by a physical and/or a mental health diagnosis.
Choosing to become a therapist was a natural decision for me, driven by my deep desire to help people navigate life's challenges and develop meaningful, purposeful lives. Whether it's working through personal struggles or finding new ways to cope, I am committed to supporting my clients every step of the way.
When I'm not working, you can find me travelling, exploring the beauty of nature, staying active, and spending quality time with my family and friends. These activities keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance and self-care.
